We run an up-tempo practice to help players improve their skills at a fast pace, therefore, once our players move onto college lacrosse they are ready to succeed. We practice in a smaller space, with smaller groups, to teach quicker reaction times in full field scenarios. The modified fields help increase the amount of repetitions each player gets per practice. This leads to increased stick skills and an incredible ability to express creativity in tight spaces.
Our drills in practice challenge our players to develop their Lacrosse IQ by providing them with individual skills that are developed through muscle memory. This methodology allows players to think through the game and make smart decisions with or without the ball. We believe in developing a players’ skill set to best prepare them for the college game. We like to cross-train all of our players so that they can better understand the game from one end of the field to another. This means that regardless of what position a player thinks they are, we train them to have the skills to perform in any situation on any part of the field. Many players who go to college for Lacrosse end up playing a different position than what they played in HS. This philosophy helps our players gain experience in all facets of the game which increases their Lacrosse IQ which makes them a more complete player.
In Game Play:
We like our players to be able to use their skills learned in practice and allow them to be able to create on offense rather be one dimensional. On offense we run offensive sets rather than running any plays which allows the players to create and use their Lacrosse IQ to make Lacrosse plays. On defense we play an active team based D that works together and does not over commit this style forces the other team to out think our players.
